Polymer-Carbon Composites to Protect Against Electromagnetic Interference in Benin

Suji Mary Zachariah, from the National Polytechnic Institute of Brittany, has developed polymer-carbon composites for shielding against electromagnetic interference (EMI). This innovation, presented in 2025, offers a sustainable and effective solution to protect electronic devices, addressing a growing need in an increasingly digital world.

Suji Mary Zachariah's thesis addresses the issue of electromagnetic interference (EMI) that disrupts the functioning of electronic devices. With the proliferation of digital technologies, the need to protect these devices is becoming urgent. Hybrid polymer-carbon composites, based on polyaniline and graphene, represent a promising alternative for shielding against these interferences.

The developed composites allow for the design of adjustable shielding mechanisms, suitable for various applications. Although numerical results are not provided, the EMI absorption capacity of these materials is a major asset. They can be integrated into protective cases for smartphones, combining protection and aesthetics while reducing secondary electromagnetic pollution.

This research opens strategic perspectives for decision-makers and investors, highlighting the opportunity to invest in sustainable materials. The market for EMI shielding solutions is rapidly expanding, and companies must adopt these composites to meet increasing environmental demands while considering the risks associated with industrialization.

« « The polymer-carbon composites I have developed provide an effective solution to reduce electromagnetic interference, a crucial issue in our digital society. » »

« « This research highlights the importance of accessing innovative solutions to meet current technological challenges, supporting decision-makers in their strategic choices. » »
