55% of people living with HIV in Burkina Faso are unaware of their status, according to a thesis from IRD

Despite a prevalence rate of 0.7%, access to HIV Counseling and Testing (HCT) remains problematic due to stigma and insufficient health infrastructure.

The study revealed that the rate of awareness of HIV status is particularly low in certain regions, where health infrastructure is deficient. The results show that disparities exist by gender, and health centers often lack adequate materials.
